Trigger Point Injections
Trigger point injection (TPI) may be an option for treating pain in some patients as a result of muscle pain, fibromyalgia among other ailments. TPI is a procedure used to treat painful areas of muscle that contain trigger points, or knots of muscle that form when muscles do not relax. Sometimes you can feel these knots under the skin. Trigger point injections are given in the doctor's office and usually take just a few minutes. Often a brief course of treatments will result in pain reduction.
